NSG - 686 The Research Process: Quantitative Design & Methods Part I


This course is the first in a series of three doctoral level research courses that promote the development, integration, and application of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required to function as a clinical nurse scientist. This course provides an overview of the research process and a brief history of nursing research within the context of current issues and trends in nursing. The research literature serves as the foundation for examining research problems, developing problem statements, and conceptualizing research questions. Finally, theoretical and conceptual frameworks ground and enrich the research process as students explore appropriate samples and sampling designs. Prerequisite: Enrollment in the PhD Nursing Program and Applied Epidimioloy & Biostatistics for Nursing Practice OR 4 hours of Graduate Statistics Credit Hours: (3)
