SLP - 562 Craniofacial Anomalies and Genetic Syndromes


This course reviews the embryology, anatomy and physiology of normal and abnormal development of orofacial structures. The focus is on cleft-palate and craniofacial anomalies with associated syndromes. Surgical, dental, audiological and feeding aspects are addressed. Speech, language and resonance evaluation and intervention strategies are discussed with a focus on current literature. The emphasis is on a multidisciplinary approach to treatment through the craniofacial team. Course may be audited by thesis-track students. Prerequisites: SLP-523L and SLP-537L. Offered: fall.
