GCC - 550 Practical Bioinformatics for the Biomedical Sciences


This course will introduce biomedical graduate students to standard concepts in bioinformatics. In addition to reviewing different topics within bioinformatics, the course will offer practical lessons and hands-on exercises for students to practice common bioinformatics techniques, such as genome alignment, variant calling, and statistical analysis. Students will be introduced to the Linux command line interface used by most open source bioinformatics tools and “R” for statistical analysis and data visualization.
