MLS - 586P Patient Care Techniques

Preanalytical situations and best practices in specimen collection techniques are reinforced through extensive discussion and practice in this course. Students will perform venipuncture procedures on patients throughout both inpatient and outpatient settings. Pediatric and geriatric patients are included, as are general adult populations. Evaluation of preanalytical situations involving documentation, transportation requirements and infection control are also covered in this course. Students will improve their communication skills as they interact with patients and other health care providers. Offered: fall and spring.
