PSY - 795 Geriatric Psychiatry Objectives of this course are: (1) to increase the amount of experience in treating elderly patients with psychiatric diagnostic skills and the use of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy with elderly patients; (2) to learn the psychological changes that accompany the aging process; and (3) to become familiar with normal and abnormal states and processes in the elderly. These objectives are accomplished via: (a) readings in the field of Geriatric Psychiatry and (b) direct treatment of selected patients with supervision by attending psychiatrists, fellows and residents. Prerequisite: PSY-701. Offered: fall, spring and summer. Retake Counts for Credit: Yes. Credit(s): 4
