HSC - 305 Principles of Biochemistry This course will analyze of the structure, properties, functions, and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. The laboratory teaches basic biochemical techniques such as centrifugation, electrophoresis, bio-molecular modeling, and bioinformatics. Students will also learn to extract, isolate and characterize a single protein. This course is designed for students in the medical technology, food science, chemistry and pre-professional health majors. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Departmental permission. Credit Hours: (4)
