RSA - 516 Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer

This course will introduce students to U.S. patent and contract laws, copyright and trademark laws and procedures, patent cooperation treaty laws and procedures, confidential disclosure agreements, licensing options and inter-institutional agreements to protect proprietary rights of institutions and inventors. The preparation of the patent applications and the filing with and examination by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will also be taught. Students will learn how to apply the relevant laws and procedures, how to properly prepare technology transfer documents and using effective, successful negotiation strategies.
