MLS - 584P Clin Pract-Immunohematology

The working immunohematology laboratory will be the setting for this clinical practicum. Students will observe and perform routine and specialized tests that are critical for ensuring the safe transfusion of blood and blood products into patients. The basic skills learned in the prerequisite course will be reinforced. Students will directly experience the impact regulatory bodies have on transfusion services. Case studies and the analysis of quality control/assurance issues will be used to foster the development of critical thinking skills. Instrumentation and advanced methodologies are emphasized.
